Hi! That’s a Trimezia lutea, a Iridaceae member. Beautiful photo!
Hi Marco and thanks so much for taking the time to help in ID 🙂
do you have some more info on why this is lutea? When I look at other resources the shorter petals are with pattern on the tip, whilst this one has only all-yellow petals on tip and only pattern around the centre.
Hi Morten. Accordingly with Chukr 2008 (Revisão de Trimezia Salisb. ex Herb. (Iridaceae) para o Brasil – in portuguese), T. lutea has a globose style, in median region… The color patterns probably it’s not a good character to define the Trimezia flowers.
Do you travel a lot on Brazil?
I tried http://iridaceae.e-monocot.org/search/site/%2522Trimezia%2520lutea%2522, but no description – very cumbersome site with little actual data. Is there a pdf or somewhere I can purchase it? I’m very interested in a compilation on Iridaceae of Brazil.
There are a few great books on flora of Brazil, but they never reprint or make them available for downloads which is a real shame.
I’ve been to Brazil the last two two years in Nov/Dec and will definitely come back – there is so much to see, and I think much is not even very known to most.
If there are other plants you know – I would appreciate your help.
Do you have a web page?
Sure, I can get you some pdf about Iridaceae from Brazil. Unfortunately, there few studies about brazilian Iridaceae, but we changing this scenario with some studies. I don’t have any site (just a facebook page, do you have one? and a Flickr account, with few photos https://www.flickr.com/photos/marcosvdqueiroz/), but we can exchange informations by email as well; my it’s marvin.danque@gmail.com. I can help with some ID in your webpage too!
That’s awesome – thanks!
