This Socotra Star-Chestnut (Sterculia africana socotrana) is one of few success stories, as it is growing on the edge of a huge limestone boulder, and thus escaped the goats. Slowly this tree will grow larger, and one day it will hopefully reach maturity which is a formidable tree.
Native range is Northeast Tropical Africa, Tanzania to Namibia, South Arabian Peninsula, socotrana variety is endemic to Socotra.
