The island of Socotra is like no other place on earth when it comes to beauty, but perhaps most of all because of all the flora and fauna that exist only on this island! It makes it all so fragile and vulnerable.
Fortunately the war on mainland Yemen is but a faraway problem, as this island’s treasures hold no commercial or religious interest on the regional or global agendas.
In the beginning of November 2015 Socotra was hit by 2 hurricanes in short succession – completely unheard of in known history. It seemed like all the destruction and the mainland war would isolate Socotra for a long, long time. Instead flights from Dubai is now underway, which means tourists can now return!
