Socotran Pomegranate (Punica protopunica)

Most of the Socotran Pomegranate (Punica protopunica) I have encountered have been heavily browsed by goats, and this individual is no exception, except that it has been able to develop a flower that has just opened. The only reason for this is the abundance of grasses this winter, more than in a long time, the number one choice of the goats. Thus the other plant choices now have a chance to grow and produce flowers for a good while, probably until they produce seeds.

Socotran Pomegranate (Punica protopunica) is endemic to Socotra.

Elevation: 613 meters.
