Cartilage Caper (Capparis cartilaginea) is an incredible plant species which can grow dangling from sheer cliffs, but this one was growing on the beach of Shuab in the west of Socotra and thus easily accessible for my and my camera to capture the stunning flower.
I was grateful to find this one in bloom, as I found either plants with buds or past bloom. Later it became clear that there was in fact very few with flower during my stay.
Native range is Egypt to Tanzania, West Asia to Northwest India, Arabian Peninsula, West Indian Ocean.
