Cartilage Caper (Capparis cartilaginea)

The characteristic fruit of the Cartilage Caper (Capparis cartilaginea), likely eaten by the many goats if found.

Native range is Egypt to Tanzania, West Asia to Northwest India, Arabian Peninsula, West Indian Ocean.

The morning shade from the steep cliff at the northern end of Shuab beach of socotra provides great opportunities for many plant species. I found this specimen leaning against a rock close to the sea, but others thrive in cracks on the cliff face itself. Some even hanging from overhangs.
