Black-fronted Nunbird (Monasa nigrifrons)

If you don’t see the nunbirds you definitely hear them, as they are very vocal. I found many of them in the forest aorund the Amazon Research and Conservation Center in Peru, and also found two roosting on palm fronds right outside my cabin every night.

As the sunlight diminished they flew to their usual spot, and did not find my presence disturbing in any way. In the morning I enjoyed their wonderful song. It was a very nice experience to take part in their lives, albeit just a tiny one.
