It’s very hard not to say wow out loud when you see and hear the falls for the first time!
When the sun is in the east up to zenith, the mist is not so prominent as the light moves from my point of view. But when the sun is moving ever closer to the western horizon, the mist becomes back-lit and the landscape seems shrouded in clouds or smoke and becomes almost more powerful than the falls.
If you look a little closer you’ll also see the trees casting long shadows in the mist – one of the most prominent ones is located just where the black smudge is, which is in fact a black vulture.
The size, position and movements of the mist is constantly changing, and with the myriads of vultures and swifts flying in close proximity to the cascading waters, this is a truly amazing place!
Fortunately I stayed at the only hotel inside the park, so I had no obligation to any schedule and could merge with the surroundings until I fell asleep!
