The distances are vast, and when suffering from altitude sickness, getting around can be a very exhausting. I had 2 days of altitude sickness – mostly very bad headache, so I was very glad there was a dirt road leading further into the park, and from which I could take frequent stops to stroll a bit into the vast landscape.
The first stop this day was this lagoon filled with waterbirds, in full swing courting.
This early in the morning there was still no cloud formation, so the view was spectacular. Being in the low season, I was the only visitor here and I could hardly find any locals either. Birds were plentiful, though.
