Napo Wildlife Center

A beautiful moonlit night with an almost cloudless sky above the Anangucocha lake.

As this is the watery Amazon I should have been pestered by countless mosquitoes and other bloodsuckers, but not here. The Napo Wildlife Center is strangely not a mosquito infested place. I wore shorts and a T-shirt and got no bites during the photo session. Perhaps there is a balance here that we rarely see elsewhere. So here the insect larvae are predated by the many species of fish in the Anangucocha lake, as well as insect eaters on land and in the air.

In the small, shallow and slow flowing creeks there are a lot more mosquitoes, however.
