Angel Falls

A sandstone outcrop is located a 40-50 minute walk from the boats, and provides awesome views of the falls.

Under normal circumstances I would have shared this lookout point with people from all over the world. Today I could sit by myself. Fantastic!

Angel Falls

Much of the water “evaporates” on the way down as it’s carried far away by the strong updrafts and falls as mist or light rain. It’s sometimes hard to separate Angel Falls water from the the clouds! In the rainy season, the amount of water coming off the tepui is so vast that it rains all the way down to the boats by the camp! I doubt there is much to see up here at that time, as you would be completely soaked. Even now, at the end of the rainy season, I had to be careful with my camera, as the wind would constantly carry mist and leave it on my lens.

The rainy season was wetter and longer than usual this year, so we were unable to have a plunge in the pool further up the river.
