I encountered many of this species in Homhil, but very few with flowers. Its long spines makes somewhat unpleasant to handle, but the goats finds it very palatable until it sets fruit.
It is not endemic to Socotra but common throughout neighboring countries and beyond.
Native range is Egypt to Kenya, Arabian Peninsula, South Iran to India.
