Northern black korhaan (Afrotis afraoides)

A female northern black korhaan, one of the smaller species of bustards, pausing for a few seconds.
That is when it’s really hard to see as it blends in so well with the dry vegetation.

The male is, as most often, much more conspicuous both in sound, behaviour and plumage, which is black and white in this case.
