Today Lima with suburbs is huge and have claimed large land areas that were previously lagoons and wetlands made from rivers and springs fed by the Andes.
Fortunately there is a tiny portion protected in Lima – Pantanos de Villa Wildlife Refuge – a Ramsar site. When I visited it was low season in regards to birds, but it was a huge amount of spiders there!
