A few places rock of unusual colors come up to the surface on the beaches of Peru, and here an entire beach is red by this rock. It has become so popular with tourists and commercial interests that it is now illegal to collect any from the beach.
This migrant bird is of course oblivious to this fact, but its presence means there is food to be had on this gorgeous stretch of Peruvian beach.
