I only found this species in one specific location on Skand (or Skand) – the highest point on all of Socotra – and was grateful it was in bloom. Elevation: 1480 meters.

A most peculiar plant! I only found this plant with fresh flowers, but unfortunately not with open flowers yet. I found it in very steep terrain close to the top of Skand (Skand). Here the goats seemed to have been unable to destroy the vegetation, so it was exceptionally dense and varied.

As I visited at the end of the dry season, the plateau was lush and green. Huanchaca Plateau is also called Caparu Meseta (Meseta de Caparú). Altitude: 806 metres. Native range is Bolivia and Brazil.
As I visited at the end of the dry season, the plateau was lush and green. Many of the plants species were in full bloom. The scent from this flower is simply amazing – sweet, deep and intoxicating!
