Black-throated sunbird (Aethopyga saturata)

Sunbirds are strikingly colorful, and you definitely get associations to the hummingbirds of the New World. Depending on the angle of the light the colors might seem bland or like flashes of iridescence, but come rain or shine, they are colorful.

This was shot on a cloudy day, and the blue tail stood out more than the other colors from my vantage point, and I wonder why it has not received blue tailed sunbird as the popular name. The black throat is mostly in the shadow of its head and could be many shades of color, while the brilliantly colored tail is always out and flashing its brilliant blue.
