Blue-throated barbet (Psilopogon asiaticus)

Barbets are such colorful birds and when seen out in the open on a naked branch, you would not think of this as a bird very hard to locate once it’s in the trees.

Unless they are singing, all you see are moving branches and perhaps some fruits falling to the ground during their foraging. they can be right in front of you, and still you don’t see them.

The green plumage of the blue-throated barbet (Psilopogon asiaticus) makes most of it blend in perfectly with the foliage. The blue will blend in with the sky. The red spot on the head might be more conspicuous, but what if it’s in a tree with red fruits?
Well camouflaged indeed!

It is a beautiful bird visually, but my heart belongs to its song.
