As the name implies this is an orchid that thrives in very wet environments, and this is as wet as it can be – a float of vegetation on the oxbow lake at the amazon Research and Conservation Center (ARCC) in Peru.

Bog orchid (Habenaria sp)
In seems it is on solid ground, but this is in fact a float. Underneath it is very deep in some places, so stepping out of the boat is a no go – I tested with a very long stick and it didn’t reach the bottom! Thus I had to photograph from the boat.

It resembles aricaensis that also grows on floats in Pantanal.

Please help me identify it – leave a comment 🙂
