The salt tolerant werneria incisa grows where the high watermark is, and is thus very salt and mineral tolerant. You can see the salt and mineral deposits to the bottom right.
Altitude: 4300 metres.
Native range is Bolivia, Argentina and Chile.
Was previously Xenophyllum incisum.

04 Xenophyllum incisum
I’m not so sure this is right, as the one I’ve photographed is very salt tolerant species which I found only in relations to the lagoons.
When I check eol.org, for instance, the specimen there is a different species.
On your site it’s definitely a match though: http://www.planetefleurs.fr/Systematique/Asteraceae/Xenophyllum_incisum.html, so the question is your source. Your image is the only one when I google the species…
Awesome – thanks for verifying Bravard’s ID, and for the links. I too checked Brink’s photos, but have not come across clarifying descriptions until yours now.
Great to know the Werneria is now Xenophyllum and now I hope to come across the alpine incisium.
With your help here, others googling for images of this species will not be in doubt 🙂
