Stomatochaeta condensata

A small shrub and one of the more unusual flowers on the Roraima tepui. It makes me think of some of the flowers on the table mountains of South Africa. Perhaps it has a genetic commonality with South African table mountain shrubs?

Geologically South Africa and the table mountains, and South America and the tepuis, including Roraima, was part of one continent – Gondwana.

Native range is the Guyana Shield.
