The jackal is an intelligent species that will exploit every available opportunity, and this one was assessing whether or not a human presence would be beneficial, and as such simply waited for whatever to unfold.⠀

This was not the first one I encountered along the coast, just a bit further south of this location one was searching for food as we were approaching, but instead of fleeing, it approached as it sniffed the air for familiar scents of food.⠀
