The Indian elephant is commonly seen throughout the open landscape of Corbett National Park, but every now and then you are lucky to encounter them in the forest. Seeing them in the forest is such a magical experience, not only visually, as the dappled sunlight filters through the canopy, painting the elephants softly and artistically, but simply because it is very hard to get a clear view of them in between the undergrowth and tree trunks. Thus this encounter was brief as they passed through this patch of relatively clear view, and into the dense undergrowth further into the forest.
This was a considerably sized group, with all ages represented, from just a few weeks old babies to the leader of the group. Here a single baby is guided along the way. This is one of many young ones, some in groups.
