Capped langur (Trachypithecus pileatus)

This large male capped langur (Trachypithecus pileatus) carried a sizable piece of rock up a tree and was meticulously breaking off pieces and grinding them in his hands as to release the good parts. He would then seemingly taste a piece and eat it all if it was of the right stuff.

You can see his white lips from previous tastings.

The rest of the group was in part doing the same or just hanging out. After some more chipping off of the rock it just dropped it. The rock hit the ground with a loud thump which was proof that this was a powerful male able to lift and carry a big piece of abrasive rock up the tree to have his supplement of the day.

There are most definitely more easy ways to get this done, and I encountered other langurs eating off the dust of the roads which is quite interesting to watch as it looks like they are praying.
