Grey-sided bush warbler (Cettia brunnifrons)

It’s amazing how such tiny bird species (just think of the house wren for instance) can produce such loud sounds, and that it is done so with seemingly no more energy than us having a conversation.

The loudest pitch is heard far and wide, but come up close and you will also hear those intimate and intricate sounds that are only available when you are near.

Some birds have plumage that make them stand out, adding a colorful dimension to its song. Others have a bland plumage but songs that captivate and hypnotize us.

This little bird blends so well with its surroundings that even though it’s song is loud and clear and seemingly coming from right in front of you, your best bet to see it is when it takes to the wings or simply jumps to a new position from where to tell the world about its presence.
