Several hours ago I watched the total solar eclipse which coincided with spring equinox. In Svalbard, March is one of the coldest months, and here you can see the sea is almost frozen over. With more sunny and calm days like this and this will be solid ice! Not spring as most of us like to think of it.

Every day the sun will be higher in the sky, and eventually it will slowly thaw ice and snow. But this is still many weeks away. In the meantime this light will become more and more rare, as the sun will be higher in the sky and the light stronger, until it will be up 24/7.

This day is almost over, the sun is setting soon, and I have to catch my plane back to the real spring at 60 degrees north!
