Phyla nodiflora is found in or alongside streams, and in some places form dense mats or even fields, completely dominating the floral expression. Here I only found a few scattered plants. Strangely these plants seem to be left alone by goats! I found a completely intact colony by the huge dunes in the north – popular with locals and tourists alike due to the year-round fresh water coming down from the interior of the island.
