Senna holosericea UV

The flower of Senna italica is more interesting in UV, as the veins and the center has a darker more pronounced color compared to the more or less all-yellow in visible light.

Senna italica is very similar to the much more common sennna holosericea, and here around the Detwah lagoon I found sennas widespread around the campground. The key difference between the two species is that the pod of senna italica has a ridge running along the middle of it.

The goats leave these alone, and most of the pea family alone, so I found them in bloom and with fruit, despite lots of goats in this nature reserve.

Native range of Senna italica is Africa to Indian Subcontinent.
