This slaty-breasted wood rail (Aramides saracura) had a rather peculiar behavior. It was seemingly oblivious to my presence and it preferred the open areas of the garden of Hotel do Ype to the denser forest.
A female was keeping an eye on me from a distance and always under cover from vegetation, which was understandable as it had two very small chicks to tend for, but made it impossible to get any good shots.
