Gray Brocket (Mazama gouazoubira)

It’s uncommon to see wild animals focusing on other (wild) elements. Usually I’m the disturbing factor and focus. Perhaps a jaguar was nearby?

From my point of view this was such a peaceful and beautiful experience. The soft light from a setting sun, and the calming of the diurnal fauna. Sounds changing from day to night mode, and that’s perhaps why the brocket was so wary – it couldn’t smell or see, but hear something approaching from the other side. Me it could see as I was close, out in the open and I had the sky behind me. Whatever the reason, I had a beautiful encounter.
