Southern Screamer (Chauna torquata)

Southern screamer (Chauna torquata) is a large and somewhat peculiar bird that seems to enjoy life in the trees as well as in the water.

The peculiarity is the remnants of claws on the wings – seen here as two quite large protrusions. Are they still used, or will they fade away and become hidden underneath the skin in a distant future?
