Fortunately I was quick enough to see the ornate tinamou (Nothoprocta ornata), stop the car, open the window and swing the camera into position and shoot!
Even though it did not take to the wings, it disappeared just as fast as I had seen it. It’s a really good runner, and the land is littered with quite tall tussock grass, and before you know it it’s hidden behind one of them!
