One of the most common plant species on Roraima. It resembles pineapple, and like pineapple it dies after blooming and setting fruit.
I wonder how it’s able to survive submerged like this. All three plants seem to have no problem being in the middle of a pool of water many months per year. Just one of many adaptations of the plants here on Roraima.
Some are lucky to set root in sand (eroded sandstone) and grow to large specimens like this one.
Native range is the Guyana Shield.
