At 05:39 in the morning the light is still very dim – the sun is well below the horizon.

My eyes could only see the silhouette of the Heron against the brightening sky.

The blue hour is when the darkness of night is just barely broken by a few photons of light from the sun far below the horizon and creates this unique blue light.

It was the only time I got a glimpse of this strange Heron.
